Philippe Boulakia is an artist, graphic designer, and educator who combines a successful career in branding with his passion for the world of art. He is a graduate of the Department of Visual Communication at Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, where he also served as a lecturer for more than 15 years. Philippe has been working in the branding field for approximately 40 years. In the 1980s, he worked as a freelance graphic designer in Paris, and later returned to Israel, where he founded the “Neo Group” studio. Every Israeli Knows his works in the field, with notable projects for Gad, Sonol, Nirlat, CheckPoint, El Al, and many others. Alongside his branding career, and particularly over the past decade, Philippe has devoted himself to painting and sculpture, working every day in his private studio at the Jaffa Flea Market. His work has received considerable recognition and has been exhibited at the Artists’ House in Tel Aviv, Tel Aviv Port, Ben-Gurion University, and many other venues. His artworks are rooted in his life and experiences. They explore figures, spaces, and objects, which he expresses through his distinctive visual language of flattening and shading. He also employs unique techniques, such as creating works with a cutting knife on wood and paper surfaces, as well as painting and sculpting with rust.
